Gus is hitting the gym again for a bit more physical therapy, but his personal trainer is prepared for him this time. And if you’re wondering why in both this and his previous visit to the gym I’ve drawn him in socks but no shoes, I don’t really have a good answer for that.

GSM 01.19 The Aftermath of Bowling
Sorry about the eXtreme! perspective on this one, but my reasons were three-fold:
- I felt like I was in a rut w/ the whole profile thing.
- It was way too tempting to just re-use this one with a few small tweaks and a new caption.
- Cleavage.
Anyhow, this one builds on last week’s and brings up that all-important issue in both bowling and pick-up lines: follow-through. Will probably stay away from the bowling alley for a bit now, but I won’t make any promises. Later.
GSM 01.18 More Bowling
I spent a ridiculous amount of time thinking of team names for the bowling shirts that were suggestive and naughty, but it seems like most of those ideas have been put on t-shirts already. I looked at my dad’s old bowling shirts and realized that they typically just had the name of the local business that sponsored the team. So dat’s what I did. Jo’s Place is just a generic bar name, but Mostly Sanitary Brewing Co. has history.
My brother-in-law Tim bought a homebrew kit when he moved here from California a couple years ago and we started brewing. We’d make beer, listen to Dan Reeder, and talk about the silly labels we’d put on the bottles. He came up with the idea for Angry Pussy Ale (available on posters, coasters, etc.), which I imagine to be a beer that Gus would really enjoy. I thought that a sweet, fruity kind of beer that Gus might share with the ladies could go by the name Grandpa Sex Machine’s Liquid Panty Remover, also available in multiple formats. Anyhow, Tim named our little enterprise based on our “close enough” attitude when it comes to the cleaning of supplies, work space, etc.
We haven’t brewed for awhile, but plan to get back at it this summer. Awesome.
GSM 01.17 Physical Therapy
Have you seen this show? I doubt that Gus would be able to glean the intended benefits from a trio of sports-bra clad fitness enthusiasts demonstrating “downward facing dog,” but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a huge fan. HUGE fan.
GSM 01.16 Gramps goes bowling
Two years of nothing and then updates two weeks in a row? Is this some harbinger of doom?
No, just Grandpa up to his old tricks. I was thinking of maybe having Gus drop a ball on his foot, and then this weekend I had a lame skateboard accident and jacked up my wrists and back. Is that some sort of proactive karma preventing me from hurting the old guy? Hmmm…
GSM 01.15 Grandpa rides the bus!
Here you go, the return from the break that was too long to really call a hiatus–more of an extended sabbatical. Or, if I’m being honest, an extended bout of laziness. With luck it won’t take another two years for the next update. Hope you dig and come back for more!
VOTE!
Yeah, I know, no updates for FAR TOO LONG, and now it’s just a half-assed digital sketch, but bitch at me later, ok? Right now you need to go vote. Polls are still open, go vote now.
Lotsa crap to fill you in on, but it’ll have to wait for a more thorough update–sorry, but my priorities lie elsewhere at the moment. In the meantime, GO VOTE NOW!
Adendum…
Well, it’s Wednesday morning and I’m pleased w/ the results. When I went to bed last night, it looked like the stem cell issue in Missouri was going to get defeated–one of the anti-research groups had already cut their victory cake–but this morning I see that it passed. While I live next-door to MO instead of in it and am not actually affected by whether it passed or not, it still makes me happy to see it go through.
This plus the big Democrat turnovers around the country give me a bit of hope for the future.
That’s my take on it, anyway. Your experience may vary.
GSM 01.14 Choking Hazard; Travel
Unfinished, but here it is. The crumby part? I had it this far last week and figured I’d have time to get it finished and cleaned up in a week. Hah.
Goin’ places
The class I’m taking finishes up today, so managing antisocial behavior should be no problem for me come 3:30 this afternoon. After that, we’re headed to Indianapolis to assist in another cross-stitch market. Four hours in a car with young children is awesome.
Edit 6/15
Well, another week packed w/ more stuff than I have to do while employed has passed. My kids had fun at the pool, though, so it all works out. Trying to figure out what I want for Father’s Day, and all I can think of right now is new bearings for my son’s skateboard.
I did manage to put the finishing touches on Grandpa up there, so I guess I was somewhat productive. Only took me 3 weeks to finish this one comic. Pretty poor, huh?
Anyhow, be nice to your dad this weekend.

GSM 01.13 Unrequited Love is for Chumps; Grumps
See what I did up there? Taking a stab at intellectual humor, and my punchline is an old dude grabbing his crotch. Très brillant, non?
So, you like the dirty old man comics, eh?
Grumps is a funny comic with awesome artwork about the residents of a retirement home that I just discovered last week. I might have to force myself to stop reading it so I’m not tempted to steal ideas, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t read it every Friday. Make it part of your weekly dirty-old-man-webcomic regimen.

GSM 01.12 All too easy; DJ does Yirmumah
This one feels like a bit of a cop-out…one of the things that I kind of enjoy about Gus is his never-ending struggle to get any sort of attention from the opposite sex. The thing about strippers is, as long as you’ve got a fist-full of dollars, getting attention isn’t exactly a challenge. Of course, my friend Tim once entered a strip-joint with nothing but a jumbo pack of gum, and by the time he left, he had been attended to by every exotic dancer in the place. Impressive.
Yirmumah Sweeps Week
Today is the last day of Yirmumah’s Sweeps Week (which starts here). I’m guessing that my audience is probably made up of my family and friends, plus some people that followed the Chrome Dome link off of yirmumah.net, so to all you family/friend types that haven’t yet seen Yirmumah, you should go check it out and look through the archives. DJ Coffman is funny and skilled.
Potential down-time
The last few weeks of school are always a terrible pain, and I’ve got way too much to do. I don’t want to take a hiatus, but I might not have a choice. If I’m hit-and-miss over the next few weeks, I ask that you forgive me and keep checking back. Or, try subscribing to the RSS feed and you’ll be notified when I put a new post up.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
